Due to COVID-19 protocols, we ask that you remain within the listening space and allow the office area to be for staff. This will allow our team to maintain social distance as much as possible. A detailed list of our current protocols can be found below.
A simple washroom facility is available for use by guests. Along with the listening space, this facility is disinfected before and after each Session. It is for each visitor to assess their own risk both for the listening space and washroom.
If you're in the mood for a bite to eat, we recommend our neighbors and original tenants (1967) Sakae Sushi and Spoon House for takeout, just downstairs. If you are in need of a haircut, please visit Leo at Leo’s Clip Joint. If you are unfamiliar with the area we are happy to suggest other things to explore while in Gardena and Harbor Gateway.
More Details on our Covid-era Protocols and their Rationale
It is our understanding from the current science that a closed air space like ours is not an appropriate place to be with people you are not already sharing a biosphere with or with whom you do not have an understanding of shared low risk level.
Based on this, we have enacted the following protocols:
We only allow bookings by people who live in the same house or are otherwise attesting to being low risk and in a shared “covid bubble” - nobody you don’t plan on coming with will be in the space except a gallery monitor who is living in a very low exposure lifestyle during Covid.
Parties who book a Session agree to be in a closed, studio-like listening space where they will be surely sharing air space with the others.
Only one Session is to be held per day to ensure a complete air exchange has taken place multiple times, ensuring no aerosol transmission is possible. The room will be aired out with a powerful fan between sessions
BLACK HOLE only allows a maximum of 8 people in the space (including staff) at once during the Covid 19 Pandemic.
A restroom is available for visitor use, at their own discretion. The facility is vented by a window that stays open 24 hours a day and disinfected after each Session.
Visitors to the space are required to fill out a form the day before describing any symptoms they may currently be experiencing. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or fever, and any other symptoms that may be experienced. Black Hole reserves the right to cancel bookings should symptoms be reported.
Gallery attendants will be masked at all times. They may momentarily come within six feet of visitors when greeting and introducing the space, but will be behind a large plexiglass wall for >90% the time.
If appropriate for the Session, gallery reading materials for your visit will be single use and made available for each visitor to take home.
The listening room, seating, and frequently touched objects are disinfected before and after each Session.
Masks are required.
Hand sanitizer and disposable gloves will be available for all visitors.
